A magical day at Gardens by the Bay

We started our day with breakfast…obviously, because no one likes a hangry Kez! Ok, ok a hungry Krissy isn’t much fun either! We then caught the MRT to Bayfront MRT station and made the short walk to Gardens by the Bay. MRT is our favourite way to travel in Singapore. Its super easy, cheap and AIR CONDITIONED, which you WILL be thankful for!

First up we went to the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest. If you choose the ticket option to visit both conservatories it will cost you $28 (SGD) and good news if you find you are struggling with the heat, the conservatories are climate controlled at a pleasant temperature of 23-25 degrees celsius. The conservatories are open to the public from 9am – 9pm daily.

The Flower Dome is beautiful and filled with vibrant flowers of various species.

However if flowers aren’t really your thing, there are other ways to amuse yourself…

Next we went to the Cloud Forest. Both of us found this conservatory more interesting. It features a mountain walk made from various plants and a cascading waterfall. At the top you are greeted with a very green view.

As we were leaving the cloud forest we stopped in at the gift shop which has plenty of unique, but pricy souvenirs.

We then went for a walk around the gardens to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the scenery. However if you are feeling lazy and have extra cash to splurge there are also shuttle buses that will take you to various locations around the precinct.

If you get hungry there are restaurants which are quite pricy, or if you are budget conscious, you can bring your food with you and have a picnic in the gardens.

The late afternoon we spent on the grassed area in front of the super tree grove eating, napping and relaxing with the locals on the free chairs available for public use. It was the perfect location for people watching as we waited for the sun to set and the light show to start. The first light show is at 7:45pm daily and is free. Perfect for budget travellers.

If you are in Singapore, even if only for a stopover, we highly recommend a trip to Gardens by the Bay.
